CHAPTER 15

Under different circumstances, Sienna would be glad that Aiden let her sleep in, but this was far from a normal situation they were in. She knew that Aiden didn’t wake her up for training because he was going through the security protocols with her, making sure that Kyle wouldn’t catch them off guard.

Doing business was the last thing on Sienna’s mind, but with great fortune came extra responsibilities, so she had no choice but to do her part. It made her feel better that Tina and the heirs were also stuck for the day.

“You should get ready,” Jaxon told her as a way of waking her up.

“What? No coffee or anything?” she teased, but it didn’t do anything to settle her nerves. When Jaxon didn’t reply to her, she sighed. “I’ll have a quick shower.”

“Don’t dress up,” Jaxon called after her. “Xavier went to get a bulletproof vest.”

“Whatever,” Sienna muttered under her breath, then chastised herself for not being nicer.

It was her idea to go to the office despite the massive threat looming over her. Jaxon and the other heirs were kind enough to cover her back while she’d be putting herself in danger. Not only herself though, them and Tina too. Nothing was ever as simple as it might have seemed at first glance.

To feel anything else other than dread, Sienna put the water setting in the shower on the top heat. It was stupid of her to step under a stream of boiling hot water, but it was the kind of danger she could control. It was a little thing, but it made her feel a bit better.

She didn’t last long and quickly changed the setting to something more endurable. A splash of shower gel, a quick wipe then a wash off and she was done. She didn’t see the point in further delaying the inevitable. Besides, they had a schedule to meet and a video call to attend at a certain hour. Even though he just lost his father, Samson went through all the trouble to set up the whole thing, so the least Sienna could do was show up on time.

Sienna wrapped herself in a black bathrobe that must’ve belonged to one of the heirs. She didn’t have the luxury of time to let herself be hugged by the soft fabric nor did she have the expected privacy because Adrianna had entered the bathroom before Sienna finished tying up the knot to keep the robe in place.

“Take it off,” Adrianna said, her demeanor making it clear they were in a hurry.

“Good morning to you too,” Sienna said and felt better when Adrianna momentarily lifted her head to give her a small smile.

“I’m sorry, hon,” Adrianna said, giving her an apologetic look. “They’ve only given me fifteen minutes to get you ready. I’m good, but I’m not that good.”

“What are you talking about? You’re a fucking miracle worker,” Sienna teased, trying to keep the mood light.

Adrianna grinned and handed Sienna the outfit she picked for her.
